Do Countertop Installers Do Plumbing? Who Disconnects the Sink

Do countertop installers do plumbing? No, at Cornerstone countertop installers do not do any plumbing, and many fabricators work the same way. We set your kitchen sink into the new countertop, but disconnecting and reconnecting the sink, faucet, disposal, dishwasher and water lines is done by a qualified plumber. You book two short plumber visits: one before tear-out and one after installation.

Summary

  • We set the kitchen sink into the countertop; we don't connect it.
  • Your plumber disconnects before tear-out and reconnects after installation.
  • We give you both dates as soon as template is scheduled.
  • Undermount sinks may need a drain height check by your plumber.

Who Does What on Installation

The split is simple: we handle the stone and setting the sink into it; your plumber handles anything with water or drains.

Why Countertop Installers Leave Plumbing to Plumbers

Plumbing connections carry water and waste under pressure, and a bad connection can cause hidden damage. Qualified plumbers carry the right parts, know local code and stand behind their connections. Keeping the two trades separate means each is done by the specialist responsible for it.

How to Schedule Your Plumber Around Us

As soon as your template date is set, we give you the tear-out and installation dates. Book your plumber for the morning of tear-out, or the day before, and for after installation on installation day or the next day.

Tell Your Plumber About Sink Changes

Switching from a drop-in to an undermount sink, or to a farmhouse sink, can change the drain height. Let your plumber know in advance so they bring the right parts.
