The Three Checks
Run all three on an offcut, never on the face of your slab. Real quartzite passes the first two easily.
1. The Glass Test
Drag a sharp corner of the sample across a glass tile. True quartzite scratches glass; marble and most dolomite won't.
2. The Vinegar Test
Leave a few drops of vinegar for ten minutes, then wipe. A dull spot means calcite, so the stone will etch like marble.
3. The Paperwork
Ask that the stone type and color be written on your quote, so the price matches what you were told.
