Why quartz

Why Quartz Is the Countertop Charlotte Homeowners Choose Most

Quartz gives the look of stone with the routine of a laminate: wipe it and move on. That is why it leads our sales, especially in white.

  • No Sealing, Ever

The resin makes quartz non-porous, so coffee and wine wipe off without a sealer.

  • Consistent Color

Two slabs of the same color match closely, which helps long runs and islands with seams.

  • Limited 15-Year Warranty

Quartz carries a limited 15-year warranty after installation, on top of our 1-year workmanship warranty.

  • Bright Whites

Clean white backgrounds that natural stone rarely offers, with veining from subtle to bold.

  • Great in Bathrooms

Makeup, toothpaste and hair products don't stain it, which makes vanity tops easy to keep.

  • Cut Wet on Our CNC

We cut every quartz slab with water to keep dust down in our Charlotte shop.

Living with quartz

What Quartz Handles Well, and the Three Things It Doesn't

Quartz is easy, but not indestructible. Its resin is the reason it never needs sealing, and also the reason for the three limits below.

Everyday situations on quartz countertops and what to do
Situation Quartz handles it? What to do
Coffee, wine, oil, lemon juiceYesWipe with mild soap and water; no sealer needed
Daily chopping and pots slidingMostlyUse a cutting board; quartz resists scratches well, but knives dull on it
A pan straight from the ovenNoAlways use a trivet; direct high heat can mark the resin
Bleach, oven cleaner, paint stripperNoSkip harsh chemicals; a pH-neutral cleaner is all it needs
Full sun on a patioNoFor outdoor kitchens, choose granite or quartzite instead

Why White With Gray and Gold Veins Sells Most

In our sales, white quartz with gray and gold veining leads every other color. It reads as marble from across the room, works with white, wood and green cabinets, and the gold picks up brass hardware. If that look is on your list, start with calacatta quartz, the style most of these slabs follow.

Engineered Stone and Silica, Explained Simply

Quartz contains crystalline silica. The health concern is the dust made while cutting slabs in a shop, not a finished countertop in your home. We cut on an automated CNC with water to keep that dust down. Read more in our guide to engineered stone and silica.

FAQ

Quartz Countertop Questions

Short answers on care, heat, warranty and price.

Do quartz countertops need sealing?

No. Quartz is non-porous, so it never needs a sealer. Clean it with mild soap and water.

Can I put hot pans on quartz?

Use a trivet. Direct high heat can mark the resin in quartz, while a trivet prevents it completely.

What does the quartz warranty cover?

Quartz carries a limited 15-year warranty after installation, and our own 1-year warranty covers fabrication and installation. The full warranty terms come in writing with your project.

Is quartz good for outdoor kitchens?

We don't recommend it. Strong sun can affect the resin over time, so we suggest granite or quartzite outdoors.

Which quartz color is most popular?

White quartz with gray and gold veins is our best seller, ahead of every other color.

Is quartz safe to have in my home?

Yes. The silica concern applies to dust from cutting slabs in a shop, not to an installed countertop. OSHA sets limits on silica dust for the people who cut stone, and we cut wet to keep that dust down.

Is quartz or granite better for a family with kids?

Quartz, for most families: it needs no sealing and resists stains from juice and markers. Granite wins if hot pans often go straight onto the counter. Compare both in our quartz vs granite guide.

Will two quartz slabs match?

Closely. Quartz is manufactured, so slabs of the same color are far more consistent than natural stone.
